Facing a damp and cold crawl space in Brossard, Quebec, the homeowner contacted us for advice. During the inspection, our specialist Roxane explained that bad crawl space will affect the quality of the air going inside the house, and thus causing potential health issues and allergies. In addition, persistent humidity will result in mold growth and potentially wood rot, thus causing potential structural damage. As a remedy, we installed our CleanSpace system, including the drainage matting and the vapor barrier. This system will regulate humidity levels while infiltrated water will be channeled to the drain or the sump pump. The walls were also covered by our SilverGlo thermal insulation that will help keep the temperature warm and regulated. Our client was happy with the transformation done within the crawl space, knowing that he is now in a safe environment.
Dry air in a crawl space is important for several reasons. The humidity is bad for the respiratory health of people who live in the house because the moist air aggravates the symptoms of asthma and allergies. Dry air offers better air quality and a more comfortable environment.
If you dry the air in the crawl space, the air rises throughout the house and makes it dry. In addition, moist air is expensive to cool. A SaniDry dehumidifier like the one we have installed at this customer's house allows you to dry and lighten the air in the crawl space and therefore throughout the house. Therefore it will cost you less to heat or cool.
The SaniDry dehumidifier is rated EnergyStar.
Our client in Longueuil called to have his crawl space encapsulated. This picture shows the big difference between an encapsulated and insulated crawlspace, and the many earth crawl spaces you can find in Quebec.
The insulation helped solve many issues the client had, such as insulating the upper floors from the cold, making the crawlspace clean and letting him use the crawlspace as an additional storage room.
One of our clients living in Anjou had excess humidity within his crawl space. This was alarming as same will affect the quality of air inside the house. Face to this issue, our specialist suggest installing our CleanSpace encapsulation system including the drainage matting which leads the infiltrated water to the drainage system, and the vapor barrier which protects the crawl space for high humidity levels. In addition, we installed the SmartDrain which detects any water infiltration and alerts the owners to avoid any flooding.
Client was very satisfied with our work, knowing that his crawl space is dry and thus his home is healthy.
Moisture is very often damaging to a home and will cause unpleasant odors, and can also attack the wood and thus create mold.
Mr. Gilles from Anjou started having those problems in his house and contacted us in order to help him find the best solution with the minimum cost.
Our technicians led by foreman Petru then proceeded to install a CleanSpace membrane in order to stop water vapor from flowing up the soil and through the walls, and a SmartSump pump system that is equipped with a cast-iron Zoeller sump pump, a reliable liner, a sump alarm, and an optional battery backup sump pump, it's exactly what you need to ensure a dry crawl space all the time!
