A Livingston, NJ, homeowner was interested in encapsulating their crawl space, so they contacted Quality 1st Basement Systems to learn more about their options for a permanent solution. We sent a System Design Specialist, Mike, to perform a full inspection. Mike noticed a musty smell almost immediately entering the crawl space. There were water marks along the foundation walls and efflorescence as well. Early signs of mold growth also stood out to Mike, telling him that this moisture problem had been happening for some time. Homeowner contacted Quality 1st Basement Systems about replacing the screen to the opening of the crawl space with a sealed door to prevent cold air and humidity from getting inside the crawl space. When the appointment was set, we sent out our Crawl Space Encapsulation booklet to the homeowner to help generate any other questions or concerns the new homeowner would have. By the time of the appointment, the homeowner wanted to get as much information as possible about encapsulation.

Encapsulation is when we stop moisture from passing through the walls and floor of the crawl space by installing a CleanSpace liner. This durable, bright white liner is mold and moisture resistant and waterproof to seal the crawl space off from unwanted cold drafts, humidity, dirt and pests that try to get inside.
