This home in Aberdeen, NJ was experiencing water in their basement. In addition to the water, they had a problem with Iron Ochre. Iron Ochre is is created as a waste byproduct of iron bacteria. This bacteria naturally occurs in environments throughout most of the world. This thick slime is known to affect drain and plumbing systems of all kinds, presenting a unique challenge for basement waterproofing contractors.
Quality 1st Basements was able to provide a solution to the water and rusty colored bacteria lurking in the basement. A full perimeter waterproofing system was installed. The full perimeter system included the WaterGuard Drainage System & TripleSafe Sump Pump. Once the system installation was complete, the homeowner was thrilled that they no longer had water or iron ochre seeping into their basement.
After this sump pump failed to protect this basement, Quality 1st Basement Systems stepped in. We removed the old sump pump and installed our Super Sump Classic. Our Sump Pump has an airtight lid to keep water vapor from evaporating into the basement air. Inside, the pump sits on a stand to avoid damage inside a protective liner.
One of our neighbors in Aberdeen, NJ was in need of a new sum pump system since their existing one was broken and beyond repair. It had no lid allowing water vapor to evaporate into the basement air creating a musty odor. Unlike our system, this pump had no back up battery for emergencies and no alarm system to alert the homeowner of any issues. This system was far from reliable and so we replaced it with our TripleSafe Sump Pump System.
After noticing a change in color and bubbles forming in their basement walls, a Matawan, NJ homeowner immediately contacted Quality 1st Basement Systems. We had our System Design Specialist, JC Gibriano, arrived to the home, on time, and inspect the basement walls. After conducting a full inspection, he suggested the WaterGuard French Drain System would be the perfect solution for this wet basement. As water seeps through the foundation walls, WaterGuard collects and directs the water straight to the sump pump system to be forced out of the basement and away from the home. Unlike other french drain systems, WaterGuard is installed above the footing of the foundation. This area is considered out of the "mud-zone" to prevent clogging or serious damage to the drain which could lead to a flooded basement.
After waterproofing the unfinished portion of this basement in Matawan, New Jersey with our TripleSafe Sump Pump system it was time to create an alternative exit out of the basement incase of emergencies. Our System Design Specialist, Steve Ventriglio, recommended our Egress Window Well. The Egress window will not allow water or unwanted drafts in but will provide a safe way out of the basement area. It also provides great curb appeal around the outside landscaping.
