This Livermore Falls, ME, homeowner had been dealing with a musty smell coming from their crawl space. Moisture and high humidity in a crawl space can not only lead to musty smells, but mold and mildew growth can be dangerous to breathe in. The homeowner needed help, so they called TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate. The crawl space needed to be encapsulated to keep moisture and critters out, so CleanSpace with Drainage Matting was installed. Drainage Matting gets laid on the ground first to protect the CleanSpace and create a channel for groundwater to flow to a sump pump. CleanSpace is a durable vapor barrier that is attached to the walls and creates an inorganic barrier between the outside elements and the interior of the crawl space. Keeping moisture out prevents musty smells, and the homeowner no longer has to worry about damage being caused in their crawl space.

We also recommended a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier to maintain optimal humidity levels, along with spray foam insulation for added protection. The transformation was dramatic, turning the wet and unusable crawl space into a dry, clean, and energy-efficient area. Our System Design Specialist met with the homeowner to design an encapsulation system that would solve their problems.

To fully encapsulate the basement and keep moisture out, CleanSpace with Drainage Matting was installed. Drainage Matting is a durable barrier with dimples to help channel water and elevate the CleanSpace, keeping it clean. CleanSpace is a durable, inorganic vapor barrier that gets attached to the walls and seals up the crawl space, keeping moisture out. A SmartSump was installed to capture water and pump it through the new Exterior Buried Discharge line. The Discharge line takes the water far from the home and with the installation of IceGuard, the entire system is protected against ice buildup in the winter. Now our homeowner can enjoy island time without the headache of unwanted water!

A Freeport, ME homeowner was tired of battling water leaking into their basement and causing issues. They reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems for help. WaterGuard was installed around the perimeter and connected to a new SuperSump Plus pump. WaterGuard captures and channels water to the SuperSump, which then drains water out of the basement and through an Exterior Buried Discharge line that is protected against ice buildup with IceGuard. CleanSpace Wall System was installed to act as a vapor barrier where needed and channel any additional moisture from the walls to the WaterGuard. Finishing out the full waterproofing system was the installation of a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. The SaniDry Sedona drains directly to the SuperSump, which allows the basement to be kept at a safe humidity level all of the time without the homeowner having to empty a bucket of water to keep it running.
