Portland, ME Basement Receives Much Needed Sump Upgrade

After living in their Portland, ME home for three years, this homeowner decided it was time they upgraded from the small sump they got from a hardware store when they moved in. Our crew got to work on their basement by rounding out the existing sump hole and installing a SuperSump system in the floor. This new pump will output at a rate of over 2,600 gallons of water per hour. This water exits the basement through a PVC discharge line where it passes through an IceGuard pipe segment on the exterior of the home. Now the homeowner can be sure their sump will keep their basement floor dry during exceptionally heavy rainfall.

When Is It Time to Pour a New Slab in Your Basement?

While it’s normal to have some fractures in your basement slab, water should not be coming through, and it should not be crumbling. This Portland, Maine homeowner recently moved into their home and knew they needed to address the issue in their basement. System Design Specialist Michael Penna met with the homeowner and put together a system that would protect their home from future water damage and outside elements.

The original slab in the basement was beyond repair, and a new one was necessary. Drainage Matting is laid down to create a barrier between outside elements and the new slab. This protects the new slab and aids in keeping water where it should be. WaterGuard is set around the perimeter of the basement and connected to a TripleSafe Sump Pump System. The new slab is poured, and TripleSafe is connected to a buried exterior discharge line that takes any groundwater away from the basement.

Your basement doesn’t have to be the scariest part of your home, and with TC Hafford Basement Systems, we can make sure that it isn’t.

WaterGuard & Drainage Matting Installation Protect Auburn, ME Basement from Flooding

Living in a home with a regularly damp basement, this Auburn, ME homeowner was in the market for some basement waterproofing. After being referred to us by their neighbor, they called our TC Hafford Basement Systems office staff and we set them up with a free estimate from one of our sales representatives. As soon as our installation crew was able to, they got to work excavating the perimeter of the concrete basement floor. WaterGuard piping was then put in place around the perimeter and covered by a fresh coat of concrete. These pipes along with the Drainage Matting on the floors surface and SuperSump sump pump will keep this basement water-free for years to come!

Crack Leading to a Wet Floor

A crack in their basement wall has led to water on their floor, and this North Yarmouth, ME, homeowner wanted to address the issue before it caused any damage to their home or belongings. They reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems to schedule a free estimate, and System Design Specialist Ron Bedard met with the homeowner and worked with them to design a system specific to their home’s basement.

The CleanSpace Wall System was installed over the problem area on the wall to catch and channel water to the newly installed WaterGuard Perimeter drainage system. WaterGuard channels water to a TripleSafe Sump Pump that is powerful enough to handle the water and push it through a Buried Exterior Discharge Line. To prevent ice from building up and to keep the system running all year round, IceGuard was installed on the discharge line. Finally, TrenchDrain was installed in high-traffic areas, catching every bit of water possible, and the old sump pump hole was filled in as it is no longer useful.

Now the home is protected, and the homeowner doesn’t have to worry about cracks creating puddles in their basement.

The Search for a Reliable Sump Pump is Over

This Cape Elizabeth, ME, homeowner was tired of their old sump pump going in and out and not working as it should, allowing water to cover their basement floor. The homeowner booked a free estimate with TC Hafford Basement Systems, and System Design Specialist Peter Folsom worked with the homeowner to design a new sump system that would fit their needs. A TripleSafe Sump Pump was installed in the basement's low spot to capture groundwater and take care of it before it could cause any problems. The Triple Safe features two Zoeller sumps to handle heavy rain situations with the added protection of a battery backup pump. The water gets pumped out of the basement and far away from the home through a Buried Discharge Line. Maine gets cold, so to prevent ice buildup from being a problem during the winter months, IceGuard was installed on the Discharge line to ensure the system will run with no hiccups. The homeowner is happy and can use their basement freely without worrying about their items being damaged by water.
