We then installed IKO Dynasty shingles in the color Summit Grey, known for their durability and wind resistance. Every shingle was secured with ring shank nails for extra holding power. The flashing here was in remiss, allowing water to seep in and cause damage. The entire front porch roof deck was treated with Ice & Water shield and we repaired the damaged collar ties in the attic. Collar ties are structurally important because they prevent the rafters of your attic from sagging. Uneven weight on top of your roof, such as large loads of snow, can cause them to sag and spread apart. They are recommended for roofs with up to approximately 18 foot spans. We also removed all existing chimney flashing and replaced it with new lead flashing.
