All homes have top plates. Top plates are the tops of walls that are visible and accessible from the attic. We seal them with spray foam to prevent air leakage, therefore stopping heat loss and keeping your home more comfortable.
This particular home had just under 6 inches of insulation blown into the attic before we performed our services. We air sealed the attic and then blew an additional 10-11 inches of cellulose over the top of the existing insulation to bring the total insulation value to an R-60.
This homeowner's air infiltration in his basement was so severe that the fiberglass batts in the rim joists had frost on them. They had to be removed a day ahead of time so the temperature in the basement could melt and dry the area before spray foam was applied.
A customer in Neenah Wisconsin contacted us because the floors in their home were cold. When our Sales Consultant arrived they inspected the entire house and found the problem. The crawl space wasn't insulated. Keeney Home Services installed Clean Space to line the dirt floor, spray foam the rim joints and insulation.
