Owners in Bath, Maine shared that their crawl space was very wet and they did not want to develop any mold or rot problems. We encapsulated their crawl space with our two step system, featuring drainage matting to control the groundwater and a CleanSpace vapor barrier liner on top. CleanSpace seals moisture out of the crawl space, keeping the wooden beams and floor joists protected from damage.
We worked with a general contractor to encapsulate this damp crawl space in Saco, Maine. The general contractor was replacing rotted support beams that had been caused by the moisture in the crawl space. Dirt floors allow moisture to seep in, leading to big problems like mold and rot. We installed our two-step encapsulation system, consisting of a layer of drainage matting and a CleanSpace vapor barrier liner. CleanSpace seals out moisture, and is treated to prevent mold growth. We also installed a SmartSump and SaniDry Sedona. The SmartSump pump removes groundwater by pumping it away from the home through an exterior buried discharge line. The SaniDry Sedona is a high efficiency air system that both filters allergens from the air, while also controlling humidity. The SaniDry Sedona can remove over 100 pints of water from the air per day!
An Augusta, Maine crawl space was experiencing moisture problems, which made the homeowners worry about the integrity of the supports for their home, as well as their air quality. We removed the old fiberglass insulation and other debris, and regraded the area. Then we installed our two-step encapsulation process, including drainage matting and CleanSpace vapor barrier liner. Drainage matting channels the groundwater, and the CleanSpace liner is installed on top of the drainage matting and on all of the walls to create a sealed up space. CleanSpace prevents mold growth in addition to keeping water out. Spray Foam insulation was installed on the walls and rim joists to provide energy efficiency improvements, as well as an added moisture seal.
A homeowner in Trevett had seen our ads on a local TV station and decided it was time to take care of their wet crawlspace. The homeowner reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate. One of our System Design Specialists met with the homeowner to review their concerns and come up with a plan to prevent future issues.
CleanSpace with Drainage Matting was installed across the entire crawlspace. Drainage Matting is laid down first to elevate the CleanSpace and with its dimpled design, Drainage Matting helps to channel any groundwater to a sump. CleanSpace was installed and attached to the crawl space walls to encapsulate the area. CleanSpace is an inorganic and durable vapor barrier that keeps moisture and small critters out while turning the crawlspace into a perfect area for storage. We also installed a SuperSump Plus which pumps water out of the basement through an Exterior Buried Discharge line and takes the water far away from the home. The whole system is protected against ice buildup during winter with the installation of IceGuard on the Discharge line. This ensures that the system will always run, preventing flooding when snow melts. To finish out the waterproofing system, a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier was installed to keep the humidity in the crawlspace at a safe level, preventing musty smells and mold growth. Now the homeowner is happy that they have a dry, usable space!
