High humidity in a basement will lead to mold and mildew, creating unhealthy living conditions and can potentially ruin a homeowner’s belongings. No one deserves to have their family breathing in bad air, and this Dover, NH, homeowner began to grow concerned as their old dehumidifier was not cutting it anymore. The homeowner booked a free estimate with TC Hafford Basement Systems with the goal of replacing their old dehumidifier and keeping their basement humidity at a safe level.
The homeowner opted to have a new SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier installed to keep the air dry and their family healthy. The SaniDry Sedona is capable of removing 95 pints of water from the air a day and filters mold spores, dust mite droppings, and other particles from the air. The SaniDry is more energy efficient than the average dehumidifier, costing less to run, and is set it and forget it. Unlike the typical dehumidifier that fills up a bucket that needs to be dumped regularly, the SaniDry Sedona drains to a discharge line, meaning the homeowner never needs to check on it and the basement humidity stays at a safe level all the time. The homeowner is happy again knowing their basement is protected and their family will stay healthy as mold is no longer a concern and musty odors are taken care of with their new SaniDry Sedona.
With water regularly leaking into their basement during heavy rains, this homeowner living in Lebanon, ME needed something more than the sump they had, to keep the water out. After the homeowner called us at TC Hafford Basement Systems, we were able to find them the solution they needed to protect their basement. Our installation crew got started by excavating room for our WaterGuard piping system around the outer edge of the floor. Before covering over the previous sump and the WaterGuard with fresh concrete, a SuperSump pump was installed and connected to the WaterGuard. Now when water attempts to leak in through the foundation, the low-pressure created by the WaterGuard piping will pull in and capture the water; guiding it to the SuperSump for removal from the basement without reaching the surface of the floor in the future.
Now that this homeowner has a WaterGuard system acting as a barrier to outside moisture, they can expect to find their basement remains dry even after heavy rainfall. Alongside the SuperSump, the WaterGuard will ensure this basement floor remains water-free!
When a homeowner decides to waterproof their basement, it tends to be when they are ready to remodel and use the space without having to be concerned with their belongings being damaged. However, this is not always the case. This Lebanon, ME homeowner had issues with hydro static pressure and wanted to take care of it to protect the health of their home, not to remodel. Out of sight does not always mean out of mind and water penetrating an unused basement still can cause issues even when it is empty. Wanting to protect their home, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems for help.
System Design Specialist Ron Bedard has years of basement waterproofing experience and met with the homeowner for a free estimate to go over their needs and work with them to design a system, specifically, for their home. The star of the system is the TripleSafe Sump Pump that will protect the homeowner from groundwater, relieving the hydro static pressure that causes leaks. WaterGuard was installed in areas that were necessary to aid in capturing and channeling water to the TripleSafe. The water has to go somewhere so the TripleSafe is connected to an Exterior Buried Discharge Line. The Discharge line takes all the water from the TripleSafe and takes it far from the house where it can’t cause a problem. To keep the system running all year even during the freezing Maine winter months, IceGuard is installed on the Discharge line to prevent ice buildup. While this basement may remain an unused space, the homeowner has protected the health of their home and ensured water intrusion won’t cause any troubles.
Homeowners were looking for a more permanent solution for a small dirt crawlspace covered by a tarp. They dealt with a lot of moisture in the crawl space and they knew it was effecting the overall health of their home. TC Hafford came in and installed a CleanSpace Vapor Barrier, a specially designed liner that keeps out pests, humidity, and most importantly moisture.
These homeowners now have peace of mind.

With water gathering in puddles on their basement floor, this Berwick, ME homeowner needed something to keep the water out. After searching online for a solution, they called us at TC Hafford Basement Systems to see if we could solve their problem. After speaking with our sales representative during their sales estimate, we were given the green light to get started on a WaterGuard & SuperSump installation. Once our crew arrived at the home, they got started on the floor by excavating the perimeter. This allowed for the WaterGuard piping to be laid around the basement floor, just below the surface. Sealed below a fresh layer of concrete, the WaterGuard will absorb any water as it leaks in through the foundation in the future. The water enters through small slits along the lower edge of the pipes and is guided directly into the SuperSump pump installed in the floor as well. The SuperSump can handle up to 2,650 gallons of water per hour, pumping it out of the home through a PVC discharge line. Finally, outside the home, IceGuard & LawnScape pipe segments were attached to the discharge line to provide additional protection against flooding. The LawnScape section covers the end with a grate to keep debris from entering the line while the IceGuard allows a way for any water blocked by ice to escape without backing up into the home.
With a permanent waterproofing solution in place, this homeowner no longer needs to suffer from a flooding basement! The WaterGuard piping along with the SuperSump pump will maintain a dry basement floor for this homeowner for years into the future.
