This Portsmouth, NH basement had water intrusion problems, as seen by the damp floors and efflorescence on the foundation walls. Efflorescence is the white powdery substance on the walls that happens when water comes in and evaporates, leaving behind a residue of minerals and salts. To waterproof the space, we poured a new slab floor with WaterGuard perimeter drainage system. BrightWall panels were installed on the walls to give a fresh, clean appearance and seal out moisture. Their new TripleSafe sump pump will pump water away from the home, keeping the basement dry.
This Waterboro, ME, homeowner had been dealing with water coming up through their old slab, leaving puddles and ruining their belongings. The homeowner had no intuition of moving to a new home and wanted to keep their forever home in a safe condition. Ready to use their basement as it was intended, so they booked a free estimate with TC Hafford Basement Systems for help. The homeowner wanted to keep their basement dry all of the time, so they worked with System Design Specialist Brian Donnelly to design a system that would take care of all the waterproofing issues at once.
Prepping The Area
The first step in prepping the area for the new slab includes laying down Drainage Matting to create an inorganic barrier for the new slab to be poured on and protected. WaterGuard was installed around the perimeter where needed to capture and channel ground water to the new TripleSafe Sump Pump. The TripleSafe features two Zoeller sumps and a battery-powered backup sump that protects the homeowner during a heavy rain event and power outage. The TripleSafe drains through an Exterior Buried Discharge line that takes the water away from the home. Maine gets cold in the winter, making it important to build a system that will work year-round, so IceGuard was installed on the Discharge line to prevent ice from building up and causing issues.
The New Slab
Now that the area was fully prepped, the brand new slab was poured. The homeowner is now able to use their basement as they want to, without the worry of water damaging their belongings or appliances. The new slab is crack-free, and the basement can be finished if the homeowner decides to.
A Waterboro, ME homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems to get a free estimate on installing gutters. They were frustrated with water damaging their front porch and seeping down along their basement wall. They met with System Design Specialist Jeff S. to come up with a plan to address their needs.
Gutter Shutter's unique design is capable of catching water off the roof without catching debris such as leaves and pine needles, keeping the gutter clog-free and preventing the homeowner from ever having to climb a ladder. Gutter Shutter features a seamless, aluminum construction that is formed and cut on site to ensure a perfect fit every time, whether the gutter needs to be two feet or 100 feet long. The integrated shutter allows for water to easily flow into the gutter, but debris and critters are kept out. Gutter Shutter's tough design means that it can hold up against the tough Maine winters. Water is handled better than normal gutters, making it harder for icicles to form, keeping the homeowner safer. Gutter Shutter comes in many different colors, allowing the homeowner to have options to choose from so the gutter will blend seamlessly into their home. Now the homeowner is protected from the rain, and they can enjoy their home without having to be concerned about damage to their porch or foundation.
