This multi-family Victorian style home located in Windsor, CT was in desperate need of a new roofing system. This home had old style single tabbed shingles which are known for causing leaks. We completely stripped the old roof and removed and replaced 5 sheets of plywood decking. On top of the new plywood decking, we laid down Owens Corning Ice & Water Shield to protect the home from outside moisture. For shingles, we used Owens Corning Duration TruDefintion Shingles in the color Desert Tan. Attic Ventilation is especially important when it comes to the well-being of your home. We installed a VentSure Ridge Vent to provide top-notch consistent attic ventilation.
This two-story home in Windsor, CT was in need of a new roof and trusted Klaus Larsen Roofing with the job. To start the roof replacement process we tore off one layer of roofing materials and installed a new plywood roof deck to the existing structural framing. We then installed two rows of ice & water barrier near all roof eaves, valleys, chimneys, etc. We also installed a synthetic underlayment to all sections of the roof that did not get covered by an ice & water barrier, for added protection against leaks and water damage. In terms of shingles, we installed IKO Cambridge Shingles in the color Dual Black. We finished the job by installing 3 brand new exhaust vent hoods on the roof with a built-in damper. This house is now complete thanks to Klaus Larsen Roofing!
This Windsor home was getting persistent ice dams, centralized around the valleys of the roof. Proliferating damage was being done with each winter. To ensure the ice build up would not return, we applied a layer of Ice & Water shield on top of new plywood. We also added ventilation at the ridge, to invite air flow and melt any frozen precipitation. The finished shingles are 'Estate Gray.'
This newer model Victorian home in Windsor, CT underwent a roof replacement along with brand new frieze boards. We got started by tearing off a single layer of existing roofing materials and giving the wood roof deck a thorough inspection. All decking was re-secured where it was necessary with ring-shank plywood nails, and all damaged plywood was replaced. A total Owens Corning Roofing system was installed with extended ice & water shield, in addition to new crown molding and a reinstalled weather vane on the turret secured with exterior grade screws.
Some jobs have unexpected obstacles, like on this house in Portland. Upon removing the old roof, we found a gaping hole in the original construction. This required a full underlying structure rebuild to make it all one plane. With a foundation now providing support underneath, the finished roof turned out fantastic and much sturdier. We understand that every roof is different, and at Klaus Larsen we are always willing to adapt to unforeseen issues.
